3 ways to make your wedding ceremony fun!

No awkward or stuffy moments here! Aleks Mac pictured at Bar Andino, photographed by our Little Love Gatherings photographer, Meleah from Lovegood Images.

According to Little Love Gatherings celebrant Aleks Mac, if you’re a relaxed couple wanting to get married in non-traditional style, your wedding ceremony should NOT feel tense.

In this blog, Aleks outlines three simple ways to make your wedding ceremony FUN!

  1. Drinks and tunes for guest arrival!

The atmosphere of a wedding is set as soon as guests enter the venue. Arriving to dead silence and not being offered a drink is… less than ideal. It definitely doesn’t set a fun, celebratory tone!

I recommend bubbles and beers or fun cocktails (pus non-alcoholic options) offered to guests in the half hour pre-ceremony period.

And of course, the music should be begin at this point! No matter what your music tastes are, our DJ Eddy Mac will have you covered, whether you’re after classic Motown or beachy chillout tunes.

Have your guests bopping along with a drink in hand. It will make them so much more excited for what’s to come.

2. Focus on your story as a couple

The celebrant should not be spitting out generic sayings about the meaning of love and marriage and soulmates, etc. How boring and cliched.

The bulk of your wedding ceremony should be made up of your unique story as a couple - how you met, funny memories, sweet moments and what you’re looking forward to in the future.

A good celebrant will focus on asking you questions in the lead up so they can write a personalised ceremony, one that you as a couple and your loved ones will enjoy listening to!

3. Consider ninja vows

If you’re nervous about reading out heartfelt personal vows at your ceremony, but still want to exchange some sweet words in front of your guests, consider the very fun option of ninja vows!

Ninja vows – or secret vows – are a great way to add a bit of laughter to your ceremony and make the process of writing your vows much more fun.

Instead of writing your own vows, you write vows for each other! So you can be as sweet, cheeky or outrageous as you like.

An example could be “I promise to let you have the last McNugget after a late night.” But you can also incorporate serious promises too - it’s all up to you.

Ninja vows are unique, fun and will definitely lighten the mood during your wedding ceremony.

Micro wedding, but make it maximum vibes!

And finally, having a micro wedding doesn’t mean any less fun for your wedding.

You can still incorporate lots of your own traditions plus party-starting elements throughout your day, starting with your ceremony!
